The upcoming Senior Professional Readiness Interviews are no longer mandatory and are not required to participate in the graduation ceremony. The senior interviews are no longer required because of an alleged lack of funding for it.
Senior Anthony Stecchi expressed relief upon learning that the interviews are no longer mandatory: “I’m glad I don’t have to dress up and do the interviews anymore.”
Even though it is optional, it is still beneficial to complete the interviews. By participating in the interviews, a Professional Readiness Certification, graduation cord, and real life experience can be earned. The interviews will be held February 24-28 by appointment. A cover letter, resume, and professional dress are required for the interview.
It is important to properly prepare for an interview to help remove any feelings of anxiety or nervousness that can interfere with the interviewing process. Being overly nervous during an interview can indicate unprofessionalism to the interviewer.
Confident speech and body language is very important for an interview. It is good to practice confidence with close friends and family or in the mirror. Nervousness can lead to stuttering or stammering during the interview. Phrases such as “um” and “uh” should be avoided during the interview.
Another way to prepare for the interview is to practice responses to common interview questions. It is advisable to rehearse responses to common questions such as “What are your greatest strengths?” or “What are your greatest weaknesses?” Try to make the responses detailed and concise. Additionally, the interviewee is expected to ask the interviewer questions.
